Why Merritt?

 

People in and around Midway shouldn't have to drive 30+ minutes just to: fill a prescription; play sports; do laundry; attend classes, gather for family reunions, etc.

Jobs are moving away: Bonnie Plants is moving headquarters to Opelika; there's a good chance prison jobs will be shut down in the near future. Our kids are hanging out on the streets without activities. Our seniors need better support. Our students need an educational boost. Easier access to healthcare and addiction treatment will provide better healing. And many of us would take advantage of a safer place to walk and exercise.

Without better local opportunities, services and jobs, Midway will dwindle and become a place where less and less people want to live. And, quite frankly, we think Midway is too beautiful for that.

Our life is calling us. Our community is calling us. We must rise, unite and make Midway a place where people come to live a quality life in a community full of vitality and opportunity. Transforming Merritt is a very important step.
