Why Merritt?

 

People in and around Midway shouldn't have to drive 30+ minutes just to: fill a prescription; play sports; do laundry; attend classes, gather for family reunions, etc.

Our kids are hanging out on the streets without activities. Our seniors need better support. Our students need an educational boost. Our high schoolers need work opportunities. There's a good chance the Bullock County Correctional facility will be shut down in the not-too-distant future, taking more jobs away. Easier local access to healthcare and addiction treatment would provide better healing. And many of us would take advantage of a safer place to walk and exercise.

Without better local opportunities, services and jobs, Midway and surrounding towns will dwindle and become a place where less and less people want to live. And, quite frankly, we think Midway is too beautiful for that.

Our life is calling us. Our community is calling us. We must rise, unite and make our rural area a place where people come to live a quality life in a community full of vitality and opportunity. Transforming Merritt is a very important step.

  • have a community kitchen and large gathering spaces
